The latest about the much-awaited Mani Ratnam directorial we hear that the team is gearing up to raise the curtain on the title font of the upcoming magnum opus. Yes, the title font of Ponniyin Selvan will be released today on January 2. The official Twitter handle of Ratnam’s production house, Madras Talkies, shared the news on Wednesday.
Ponniyin Selvan has been in news even before hitting the shooting floor. Leading Bollywood actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, who started her career with Iruvar in 1997, is reuniting with celebrated filmmaker Mani Ratnam after a decade. Rumours are rife that megastar Amitabh Bachchan may also been seen in a special role in the film.
Apart from calling the shots, Mani Ratnam is also the co-producer on Ponniyin Selvan. He is co-producing the high-profile film in association with Lyca Productions. Oscar winning music director A.R. Rahman is scoring music for the movie. Rahman is composing his 15th movie for Mani Ratnam since 1992. Dialogues have been written by Jayamohan, with Ravi Varman cranking the camera.
The film is currently being shot in Thailand. While there is no update on the official release date of the movie, it is expected to roll out in cinemas towards the end of the year or early next year. An official announcement is awaited though.
