Kamal Haasan was last seen in his ambitious film, Vishwaroopam 2 (2018). Though the movie entered theatres with great pre-release buzz, it just failed to live up to the huge excitement of the audience and tanked at the box-office. Kamal Haasan then teamed up with ace filmmaker Shankar and has been working on the sequel to their blockbuster National Film Award-winning film, Indian (1996).
The shooting of Indian 2, which also stars Siddharth, Rakul Preet Singh, Kajal Aggarwal, and Priya Bhavani Shankar, has been delayed due to the unfortunate accident which happened on the sets of the film a couple of days ago. The next shooting schedule of the film is expected to start soon.
Now, a popular entertainment portal reveals that Kamal Haasan is set to reunite with filmmaker Gautham Menon for a sequel to their film Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu. Released in 2006, Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu was a neo-noir action thriller also featuring Jyothika and Kamalinee Mukherjee.
Kamal Haasan recently watched the Tamil romantic road movie, Gypsy (2020), and congratulated the entire team. He reportedly said that Gypsy is a film that highlights the need for the present day to be the only weapon to defeat racism and casteism. Director Gautham Menon was also in attendance with the team of the film. He reportedly met Kamal Haasan and discussed the plans of making a sequel to Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu.
Haasan is also interested in reuniting with the filmmaker for the second time. According to some media reports, the official announcement regarding the film is expected to be made soon.
Apart from Indian 2 and Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu 2, Kamal Haasan has also decided to go ahead with a sequel to his hit film, Thevar Magan (1992). Apart from playing the lead role, Haasan will also direct the movie. The project will start rolling once Indian 2 gets wrapped up.
