2012 blockbuster of Aamir Khan and Kareena Kapoor, Talaash has nearly completed seven years since the release. The film also added another feather into its cap as it made it to Top 100 Bollywood Movies of All Time according to IMDb.
Scoring 49th in the list, the film deserves to be featured in the list of must-watch movies any everyone. To fill you with nostalgia, today we bring some interesting facts about the film.
Synopsis
Aamir and Kareena-starrer thriller drama delves into the sordid underbelly of city life. The film centers the lives of three main characters which are Surjan Singh Shekhawat (Aamir Khan), Roshni (Rani Mukherji), and Rosy (Kareena Kapoor). Surjan is an inspector whose investigations bring him to housewife Roshi and prostitute Rosy.
Following the rom-com super hit Honey Moon Travels Pvt. Ltd (2007), the director Reema Kagti got several approaches with good ideas for one follow-up. However, she took the plunge to produce Talaash herself with the support of screenwriter Zoya Akhtar.
The script took no time to attract megastar Aamir Khan, so he agreed to team up with her. Kareena Kapoor Khan and Rani Mukerji then join him.

- Talaash was the 3rd collaboration between Aamir Khan and a female director after Deepa Mehta in Earth, his wife Kiran Rao in Dhobi Ghat.
- The film marked the comeback of suspense drama to Bollywood.
- Talaash witnessed the reunition of the trio Aamir Khan, Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar who last collaborated in “Dil Chahta Hai” nearly a decade back.
- Director Reema and her friend Zoya worked together for the writing of the film after their massive success in 2011 hit Zindagi Na Melegi Dobara as a writing duo.
- Aamir is wearing the police uniform for the first time in the film Talassh. Even in his previous movie Sarfarosh where he is essaying the role of a police officer, the star didn’t put on such an outfit.
- Bebo, at that time, was a newly wedded actress but wasn’t credited as Kareena Kapoor Khan on screen. She took her maiden name instead.
- Amir and Rani Mukerji teamed up after the films Ghulam (1998) and Mangal Pandey: The Rising (2005).
- The suspense thriller was expected to be another top grosser of Aamir Khan. It made it to top 10 biggest of the superstar.
