Many said that animal lovers are warm-hearted people. When he was an 8-year-old kid, Darius Brown was taught sewing a bow tie painstakingly by his sister. The boy then wore a handmade Ninja Turle tie to his school and the new accessories drew the attention of many friends. Several of them wanted one and he returned home and made more for his friends.
Another use for his hobby
In the year 2017 when Darius was 10, he started finding a better use for his ties after he figured out that many cats and dogs were found homeless in Puerto Rico and Florida after Hurricane Irma.
Humans need shelter to live, so do the animals. They also need families to adopt them and the boy came up with an idea in which he wanted to help them stand out in the crowd.
They would look adorable and hilarious with a funny bow tie from him.
The result
Darius sent 25 cute bow ties to an ASPCA animal shelter located in New York and the result was too mind-blowing and beyond his expectation.
“Even something small like a tie can help get an animal adopted because a bow tie is unique and helps bring out a pet’s personality,” Darius said.
4 years later, Darius who is now 14 years old is still making a lot of bow ties to helps animals with his mom at their apartment. He has donated around 600 ties for cats and dogs in shelters.
The staff said that these bow ties can help older animals easily get noticed and they are more likely to get adopted.
