Recently, the Motor Vehicle (Amendment) Bill approved by the government has some changes to make the traffic law enforcement become more stringent.

The Indian government is seemingly wanting the citizens to get their driving skill in check. First, The Brihan Mumbai Municipal Corporation (better known as BMC) implemented a new law requiring drivers to pay the ₹10,000 fine for parking in wrong places.

However, recently, the Motor Vehicle (Amendment) Bill approved by the government has some changes to make the traffic law enforcement become more stringent.

To this, one of the most significant changes is that a hefty ₹10,000 fine will be applied if the commuters don’t give way for emergency vehicles like ambulances.

The fact is that before the amendment to the bill was agreed, no provision for the offender blocking emergency vehicles was made.

What’s more? offenses such as drunk driving are about to invite a new fine which is also Rs 10,000 instead of Rs 2000.

For the uninitiated, the bill got lapsed following the 16th Lok Sabha’s term ended. A source told Financial Express,
