A Traditional Romantic Hard To Find True Love In Today's Hookup Culture

In hookup culture wherein people tend to prefer short-term physical satisfaction to lifelong commitment, traditional types may feel hard to find true love.

Speaking of love, I tend to think of the previous generations, my parents, or even grandparents. The way they fall in love is pure, innocent yet intimate enough to help them stick their whole life together. Shyly holding hands, sending letters through familiar friends, all of them can be considered romantic at that period. However, the formation of hookup culture in romance in today's modern society fills me with envy with the past.

Despite enjoying the present-day convenience, I'm a traditional romantic when it comes to love. I believe in lifelong love between only two people themselves, who can connect their whole life through various ups and downs.

You needn't act big to prove your love, but just small cute gestures are enough. Remember his/her birthday and throw some celebration, give a surprising bouquet bought on your way home, sit alongside on rainy days to ease the pain. Or even if a misunderstanding occurs, the couple chooses to figure problems out by their best, instead of breaking up quickly and moving on with another on the next day. Life can't fulfill without those embellishments, which then probably strengthen your relationship once everything's over.

It's hard to find this ideal love in today's modern society where many prefer to meet, hookup, then quickly leaving each other's side instead of a solid bond.

The society has tremendously progressed, especially with technological developments. People now can quickly meet a multitude of others on a mobile app, which prevents them from forming a real intimate relationship. Slightly knowing the other, going on one or two dates, maybe having some physical connection, then ending the so-called love! Many nowadays would choose something quick and effortless, but not willing to invest, even small attempts to get to know the other half.

As a result, when I confess myself as a traditional type, some will not agree, or pity me because I have such a struggling journey to find my true love.

But whatever trend's popular today, or however hard it may seem, I still believe in true love with which I can find my half perfect piece in the not far future.
