Margot Robbie To Star Barbie In Live-Action Film

Australian actress Margot Robbie is to play Barbie in the first live-action feature movie about the iconic and controversial doll.

On Tuesday, Mattel and Warner Bros announced they are prepping for partnering to make the film, which will star the Robbie, 28, the companies said in a statement.

Robbie said she hoped the film would have a "positive impact on children"

Squad, I, Tonya, and Mary Queen of Scots will co-produce the movie through her production company, LuckyChap.

Robbie also told that she could not have imagined "better partners" than Warner Bros and Mattel.

Barbie has already been the subject of numerous animated movies, distributed in theatres. In total, more than a billion Barbie dolls have been sold since she first went for sale in New York.

The live-action Barbie movie come out of toymaker’s newly-established Mattel Films. The film, which has yet to have a title, a director or a release date, marks the first collaboration between the two US companies.
