On Tuesday, the business magazine Forbes ranked Kylie as the 2057th richest person of the world.

Kylie Jenner, who is the youngest member of the Kardashian-Jenner reality TV family, has officially become the world’s youngest billionaire at the age of 21.

On Tuesday, the business magazine Forbes ranked Kylie as the 2057th richest person of the world. It means that she broke the record of Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg who bore this title at 23 nearly ten years back.

How Kylie Jenner started running her own business

In the year 2015, the TV personality founded her company and named it Kylie Cosmetics.  The fact is that her makeup empire is run mostly on her iPhone, with the support of her mom Kris. The business employs only 12 staff including seven full-time and five part-time and it’s virtually outsourced entirely.

Kylie takes responsibility for generating the ideas for styles while a private-label manufacturer Seed Beauty makes the beauty products, sales and orders are outsourced to a Canadian online firm Shopify which runs shops for Justin Bieber and Drake as well.

Jenner also doesn’t worry too much about the financial situation of the business or the daily management of her staff as those matters are taken care by her mother or “momager,” who manages all of her kids’ financial operations in exchange for the 10% cut.

The power of social media

For the uninitiated, marketing is mostly done through social media platforms, where she owns a massive following with 128 million Instagram followers and 26.7 million on Twitter. Jenner announces her product launches or previews new items she is directly wearing to the 175 million-plus who are following her on Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, and Snapchat.

It’s the power of social media,” the 21-year-old businesswoman says. “I had such a strong reach before I was able to start anything.”

Who helps Jenner skyrocket sales?

During three years, the Kylie Cosmetics products had been selling only online and in the pop-up shops. However, after partnering up with beauty retailer Ulta, Kylie Cosmetics rolled its $29 lip kits into more-than-1000 stores of Ulta. Jenner then appeared at the Richmond Avenue Ulta in Houston to greet her customers, write her signature on the lip kits, and take selfies with them.

As per the estimates of Oppenheimer, in the next six weeks with Ulta, the company sold $54.5 million worth of products.  Kylie Cosmetics witnessed considerable growth in their revenue. Forbes also estimates her company is now worth at least $900 million.
