On Tuesday, Kim Kardashian talked about her recent collection named Kimono - a line of shapewear that took her up to 15 years for the entire completing process. The mother of 4 took the Instagram handle to share about it and she said she always cut up her own shapewear to customize it to her style, and there had also been too many time that she could not find any suitable shapewear color to blend with her skin tone; hence, she needed to explore a solution to deal with this. This forthcoming shapewear collection was said to include pieces in various sizes from XXS to 4XL and available in 9 different shades.

However, only one day after the announcement of this new product line, a number of Japanese people expressed their dissatisfaction about Kardashian’s use of “Kimono” in order to sell this shapewear. They accused the reality star of taking this word (Kimono) for her own use to aim at consumerism. Moreover, angry users even blamed her for showing disrespect for Japanese culture as well as stealing their long-time traditional dress’s name.

As regards these strong opinions, she announced on Twitter about this upcoming product arrival and revealed that her shapewear, which doesn’t resemble the kimono, is an item for women with nine shades and myriad sizes for them to feel much more confident. Kim Kardashian wrote that finally, she could share with everyone her project that she has been developing during the previous year. She added, “I have been passionate about this for 15 years. Kimono is my take on shapewear and solutions for women that actually work”.
