Amitabh Bachchan Has Been A Monument Of Reinvention Before Thugs of Hindostan

One of the most expected films in  2018, Thugs of Hindostan is about to release within days. The excitement around the films is noticeable as it was led by a star and Aamir Khan who is obviously a trustable name. In the epic adventure film, Aamir Khan takes the role of Firangi Mallah, a thug who can switch from side to side in the blink of an eye. Asides from the main actor, Amitabh Bachchan is also a big name who makes the films more promising. Co-starring in the film, the 76-year-old actor plays the leader of a thugs band named Khuda Baksh. The movie is seen as a perfect combination of arts from the sets, the songs, attire and heavy weapon to the scenes, which allures every film lovers.

Obviously Aamir Khan will take a major share of the movie, however, Amitabh will be in charge of a noticeable part too. It isn’t an easy task as many actors from his generation have disappeared from films for a long time. At the age of 76, Big B still is a potential draw in comparison to other A-list stars.

Started the journey with Saat Hindustani (1969), he has come a long way until Thugs of Hindostan. To young audiences, Amitabh represents their father’s generation as he was famous in the 70s and 80s of the last century. He is someone that they have heard about but never come close to his films. However, Amitabh's films recently have become their favourite.

One of latest blockbusters that he has joined was was Piku (2015), a heart-touching movie about a man and his daughter. Featuring in the film were young stars such as Irrfan Khan and Deepika Padukone. However, it cannot make Amitabh’s role lose its lustre. He was in the role of an old grumpy man with his bowel movement obsession. Even when his part is short, he was an important factor which built up the success of the film. The total revenue of the film was Rs 141 crore while its budget was just around Rs 42 crore.

Amitabh Bachchan Never Looks The Same In His Films

The year of 2016 witnessed the releases of Te3n and Wazir which had Amitabh Bachchan in unique roles. His roles set the theme for both of the dramas. We can see Amitabh In Wazir as a wheelchair-bound man, betting his life to revenge for his dead daughter. This role had a small similarity to the one in Te3n when he played the role of a grandpa seeking for his missing granddaughter.

Another stellar performance of Amitabh came up in the same year in Pink. As a lawyer who struggles with bipolar disorder, Amitabh character fights for three young women who were molested by a politician's son. Along with Taapsee Pannu, they brought on the revenue of Rs 107.32 crore, 5 times higher than the budget.

His Performance Never Lets Audiences Down

While 2017 is a gap, Amitabh was back to the screen in 102 Not Out with an average success. Backing to his elements, the actor played a centurion who teaches his son how to embrace life. The film, as well as the actor, has received many positive critics on the performance.

All of the roles he took and the success he made can proof that Thugs of Hindostan is another valuable piece of art from Amitabh Bachchan. 18 years have gone since the first season of Kaun Banega Crorepati, Amitabh has continuously pushed the limit and delivering unforgettable performance from Paa, Bhoothnath Returns, Cheeni Kum, Sarkar Raj to Bunty Aur Babli.
