Varun Dhawan, who was last seen in the Remo D’souza-directed dance flick Street Dancer 3D (2020), has some interesting projects lined-up for him. He next stars in his father’s much-awaited directorial outing Coolie No. 1. The movie was earlier scheduled to hit theatres on 1st May, but the makers had to postpone its release due to the Coronavirus lockdown.
Once the lockdown is lifted, Varun Dhawan is expected to start shooting for acclaimed filmmaker Sriram Raghavan’s next film Ekkis. It is a biopic based on the life of Second Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal, who was a posthumous recipient of the Param Vir Chakra, India's highest military decoration for valour in face of the enemy. It is thought that Varun Dhawan will be playing the 21-year-old army personnel which means he will have to shred weight for the role.
A source tells a publication that it basically means that Varun Dhawan will have to look much younger than his age as well and hence the actor is experimenting with a lot of looks at home these days, trying to see how young he can look. Varun had played a teenager when he made his debut in Bollywood with the Karan Johar directed film Student of the Year in 2012. But he was eight years younger then. The audiences have also seen him for a while and he will need to make an effort to lose weight at the right places.
Ekkis, directed by Sriram Raghavan, will be produced by Dinesh Vijan under the banner of Maddock Films. The trio has previously worked together on Badlapur in the year 2015. It was one of the most successful films of the year. The audience is expecting the team to create the same magic with their new offering Ekkis.
