Varun Dhawan Demands Strictest Punishment For Convicts In Nirbhaya Case

Varun Dhawan wants all such cases to be treated in a speedy way and strictest punishment must be delivered.

In a major development in Nirbhaya rape and murder case, Supreme Court rejected review petition of death sentence for Akshay Singh Thakur. During media interaction, Varun Dhawan demanded strictest punishment against convicts. He demanded that such cases should be dealt quickly and punishment must be served. Varun will be seen next in Street Dancer 3D. Film has been directed by Remo D'Souza and produced by Bhushan Kumar, Divya Khosla Kumar, Krishan Kumar and Lizelle D'Souza. It also stars Shraddha Kapoor, Prabhu Deva and Nora Fatehi. The film is slated for a release on 24 January.

Supreme Court bench headed by Justice Bhanumathi comprising of Justice Ashok Bhushan and Justice AS Bopanna heard review petition of convict Akshay Singh Thakur. The bench rejected the petition and stated that the crime committed by the accused is horrendous and death penalty of accused stays. Delhi police had nabbed the accused 11 days after a 23 year old woman was gang raped and murdered in a private bus. Several protests were held across the country against Delhi police.

Varun Dhawan during the trailer launch had said that the decision from Supreme Court was welcomed and strict punishment has been ordered. Such cases are very important for the country. We often discuss that such issues does not get resolved quickly. These issues must be dealt swiftly and strictest punishment has to be served. He was happy that the entire nation stood unitedly against people who had committed such gruesome crime. Several Bollywood celebrities gave thumbs up to Supreme Court's instant decision to reject review petition.

Talking about the film, it has been extensively shot in Punjab and London. The film revolves around lives of street dancers in India. Earlier Katrina Kaif was chosen as an actor for this film. She opted out of the film and Shraddha Kapoor was chosen later.
