SHOCK - Bollywood Legend Irrfan Khan Dies At 53 From Colon Infection

Bollywood legend, Indian National Award-winning actor and cancer fighter Irrfan Khan died in Mumbai at the age of 53. Earlier, his spokesperson confirmed he was admitted to hospital in Mumbai owing to the deteriorating health which was reported to be a colon infection.

The Life Of Pi actor was diagnosed with Neuroendocrine Tumour in the year 2018 and since then he has been battling the illness in London. However, recently the news about his demise was confirmed by his publicist.

"'I trust, I have surrendered'"; these were the some of the many words that Irrfan expressed in a heartfelt note he wrote in 2018 opening up about his fight with cancer. And a man of few words and an actor of silent expressions with his deep eyes and his memorable actions on screen.”

The spokesperson added,

“It’s saddening that this day, we have to bring forward the news of him passing away. Irrfan was a strong soul, someone who fought till the very end and always inspired everyone who came close to him. After having been struck by lightning in 2018 with the news of a rare cancer, he took life soon after as it came and he fought the many battles that came with it. Surrounded by his love, his family for whom he most cared about, he left for heaven abode, leaving behind truly a legacy of his own. We all pray and hope that he is at peace. And to resonate and part with his words he had said, 'As if I was tasting life for the first time, the magical side of it'.”

Meanwhile, director Shoojit Sircar who is also known to be his close friend also took to his Twitter handle to confirm. They teamed up in the film Piku which was taking the box office by storm back then.

For those who are unversed, after two years of fighting against the illness, the actor made his Bollywood comeback with the film Angrezi Medium which released in March this year. While we all hope to watch more projects of the actor on the silver screen, Angrezi Medium is the last film of Irrfan Khan in the film industry.

According to a statement released by the actor’s family, Irrfan Khan spent his final hours with his family members. It’s not far off the mark to say, it’s a very tragic time for the whole family, as earlier last week, the late actor had to witness the death of his mother and he couldn’t even attend her funeral because of the lockdown.

As a fan of Irrfan Khan, we truly went speechless, the sudden demise of the iconic actor will leave not only us but also the whole industry in shock.
