Shahid Kapoor Reteams With Dharma Productions’ Head Honcho Karan Johar

Shahid Kapoor last worked with Karan Johar on “Shaandaar” which turned out to be a dud at the box-office. Buzz has it that the two are coming together for a film with patriotic undertones.

Shahid Kapoor is going places after the riotous success of record-breaking Kabir Singh (2019), which turned out to be a humongous hit at the box-office. Also starring Kiara Advani in the lead role, the movie became the most successful film of Kapoor’s two-decade long career.

After the success of Kabir Singh, which is the Hindi remake of Sandeep Vanga’s Telugu film Arjun Reddy (2017), Shahid Kapoor is presently working on the Hindi remake of yet another Telugu film. Titled Jersey, the forthcoming film is being helmed by South Indian filmmaker Gowtam Tinnanauri who also called the shots for the original film.

In Jersey, Shahid Kapoor will be seen in the role of a cricketer who aspires to make it to Team India at an age when most players are contemplating retirement. While the incredibly talented actor is still shooting for Jersey in Chandigarh, a popular tabloid reports that he has given his nod to yet another film.

Buzz has it that Shahid Kapoor has reteamed up Dharma Productions’ head honcho Karan Johar after Shaandaar (2015). Also starring Alia Bhatt in the lead role, Shaandaar was helmed by Vikas Bahl. But despite being mounted on a lavish scale, the movie bombed at the box-office, incurring heavy losses.

According to a source close to the development, the forthcoming film will also be mounted on a huge scale. It will boast of some jaw-dropping stunt sequences. The source also adds that it will have patriotic undertones and will be directed by a debutant. Shahid Kapoor is a fan of the action genre and is excited about being a part of this film. He needs to bulk up for the part, so the prep will begin a few months before he starts shooting for the film.

The yet to be titled film is expected to start rolling in the second half of the year. More details are expected to arrive soon.
