When Ayan Mukerji talks about Shah Rukh Khan, there are only good words to say, "Inspiration. Obsession. Idol. My single biggest love at the movies through my entire childhood and teenage years, leading up the highlight of my 2 assistant director experiences - Swades and KANK [Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna] - which was that I got to be in the presence of Shah Rukh Khan. And when I got very lucky, to be a stand-in with him for blocking scenes (This photo is framed and put up in my house by my mother who considered it the height of my achievement obviously)."

The director also further added, "The joys of those early years when I was an AD, fresh in the industry, interacting with everyone for the first time - sometimes I wish I could go back to the innocence of that time...#lookingback #connectingthedots #SRKlove." Although Ayan has just used Instagram for over a month, his fans always enjoy what he posts on, mostly about things around his life.

He started his career as an assistant for Swades and Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna. Since then, Ayan directed two hits Wake Up Sid and Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani. He is currently working on the sci-fi film Brahmastra. The movie features with his ‘muse’ Ranbir Kapoor (Shiva) and Alia Bhatt (Isha). Amitabh Bachchan, Nagarjuna, and Dimple Kapadia also take part in the movie.

Brahmastra is set in three different languages - Hindi, Tamil and Telugu and will be on screen on Christmas 2019.
