Actor Salman Khan Becomes The Richest Indian Celebrity, Says Forbes

Actor Salman Khan was voted as the richest Indian celebrity for the third time by India Forbes. Akshay Kumar and Deepika Padukone came at number 3 and 5, respectively. Actor Shahrukh Khan rounded out the top ten.

India Forbes has just released the list of 2018 richest India celebs. From the list, Bollywood actor Salman Khan led the pack for his third time while actor Shahrukh Khan fell out of the top ten.

The Forbes’ India Top 100 list is based on celebs’ earnings from their entertainment activities, started from 1^st October 2017 to 30^th September 2018.

Salman Khan captured the number 1 spot with his earnings of ₹253.25 crore because of the success of two movies namely Race 3 and Tiger Zinda Hai. Besides, becoming brand ambassador of some brands also contributes to his total earnings.

Indian cricket player Virat Kohli returned to the list at the No.2 spot with earnings of over ₹228 crore, a considerable increase of over 116 percent in comparison with last year. Akshay Kumar earned ₹185 crore, captured the third spot.

Shahrukh Khan, who used to be in the No.2 spot last year, rounded out the top ten. He ranked at Number 13 with ₹56 crore from the brand ambassador.

Newlywed actress Deepika Padukone joined the top 5 and become the first female celeb to achieve a place in the top 5, with her total earnings of ₹112.8 crore, giving her the number 4 spot. Cricket player Mahendra Singh Dhoni with ₹101.77 crore completed the top 5.

Other big names including Bollywood actor Aamir Khan, actor Amitabh Bachchan, actor Ranveer Singh, cricket player Sachin Tendulkar, and actor-director Ajay Devgn found their place at the top ten.

There are 17 representatives from the South Indian film industry, a slight increase compared with 13 celebrities last year. The number of actors from Bollywood is slightly down from 33 to 31 while their earnings increased by 12.89 percent in comparison with last year.

Indian cricketer Hardik Pandya, who earned ₹28.46 crore, became the highest gainer (in percentage term) with his yearly earnings increasing almost 9 times.

Earning ₹15.17 crore from her two successful movies namely Aramm and Kolamavu Kokila made actress Nayanthara become the only female celebrity from the South in the list.

According to the Editor of Forbes India, Brian Carbalho, Celebrity 100 list is regarded as a definitive measurement of celebs’ earnings. He added that apart from cover-stories and earning charts about A-list celebrities such as Deepika Padukone, Sachin Tendulkar, and Akshay Kumar, the list also includes new stars such as EDM trail-blazer Nucleya, actor Vijay Deverakonda, actor Mammootty, and director Kortala Siva.
