Ranveer Singh On Collaborating With Karan Johar For Period Drama “Takht”

Ranveer Singh, who made his acting debut with Yash Raj Films’ “Band Baaja Baaraat” in 2010, has never worked under Karan Johar’s direction. Multi-starrer period drama “Takht” marks their first collaboration.

Ranveer Singh is undeniably in the best phase of his career right now. His last films, including Bajirao Mastani (2015), Padmaavat (2018), Simmba (2018) and Gully Boy (2019), have done terrific business at the box-office, establishing him as one of the most successful actors from the current crop.

Singh started out with Yash Raj Films’ romcom Band Baaja Baaraat in 2010 and has worked with almost all leading filmmakers known for commercial cinema.

Ranveer Singh has, however, never worked under Karan Johar’s direction before. But his dream is on the verge of becoming a reality soon as the actor is gearing up to work with KJo on his next directorial venture Takht. Produced by Dharma Productions, Takht is a period drama which boasts of a huge star cast.

Besides Singh, the movie stars Kareena Kapoor Khan, Alia Bhatt, Bhumi Pednekar, Janhvi Kapoor, Vicky Kushal, and Anil Kapoor.

The actor recently opened up about teaming up with Karan Johar for the first time on Takht.

Takht, which revolves around two warring brothers of the Mughal Empire, was set to roll in 2019. However, there has been some delay in its production and now the team is looking at beginning the first schedule in early 2020. The film is scheduled to hit the marquee towards the end of 2020.

Meanwhile, Ranveer Singh is presently shooting for his next film 83. Based on Indian cricket team’s unprecedented win against West Indies in the 1983 World Cup tournament, the sports drama is being helmed by Kabir Khan. Singh’s real-life Deepika Padukone is playing his onscreen wife in the film.

For the unversed, Ranveer Singh plays legendary cricketer Kapil Dev in the movie. 83 releases on 10th April 2020.
