Ranbir Kapoor, who is presently busy shooting for his much-awaited fantasy drama Brahmastra, has added a new project to his pocket. Speculations are rife in corridors of Bollywood that the talented actor has signed up to play the male lead in filmmaker Sandeep Vanga Reddy’s next directorial venture.
Sandeep is a well-known Telugu filmmaker who rose to fame after helming the Vijay Deverakonda and Shalini Pandey starrer Arjun Reddy (2017). He remade the same film in Hindi with Shahid Kapoor and Kiara Advani in lead roles. Titled Kabir Singh (2019), the movie turned out to be the biggest blockbuster of the year.
After the stupendous success of his debut film in Bollywood, Sandeep Vanga Reddy is now moving on to his next venture. According to reports, his next film will be a dark crime-thriller titled Devil. While Kabir Singh was a remake of his own film Arjun Reddy, Devil is going to be an original Hindi movie for him.
We also hear that Devil is the same film and character that Vanga had earlier offered to Telugu superstar Mahesh Babu. However, when the director narrated the script to the actor, he found it to be too dark.
Mahesh apparently asked Vanga to write another script for them to collaborate, but the director was so keen to make the film that he approached Ranbir Kapoor with the same script. If industry insiders are to be believed, the Rockstar (2011) actor has agreed to come on board to headline the film.
An official announcement is awaited though.
