No FIR Against Salman Khan, Mumbai Court Orders Investigation First

A Mumbai court ordered Mumbai police to first investigate the allegations levelled by a journalist against actor Salman Khan before registering the First Investigation Report (FIR).

Journalist Ashok Pandey had alleged that he was attacked by Salman Khan and his bodyguard Shera.

Pandey had approached the court and had requested to direct police for registering the FIR. However, the court rejected the application plea and directed the police to first investigate the complaint.

The police had first refused to register the FIR and had claimed the complaint to be fake.

According to the complainant, he was allegedly assaulted on 25, April 2019 by Shera and Salman Khan.

The actor who is known for strict fitness regime was seen cycling at Juhu when the journalist clicked his picture while cycling.

Pandey first approached DN Nagar police station and after they refused to register the complaint, he approached the court.

A senior officer said, "The complainant claimed that the police didn’t file the FIR so he went to court asking for an FIR to be filed. Court didn’t permit that. Only asked the police to investigate and submit a report. It’s section 202 order. There is a counter/cross-complaint in the case as well".

He further said, complainant, sought an FIR against Salman Khan and his bodyguards under section 323 (causing hurt), section 392 (robbery), section 506 (criminal intimidation), section 426 (mischief) and section 34 (common intention) of the Indian Penal Code."

The complainant had also stated that on spotting him (Salman Khan), Pandey started filming him after seeking permission from Khan’s bodyguard. He stated that this enraged Salman and his bodyguards came to his car and started thrashing Pandey.

Pandey also alleged that Salman Khan too assaulted him and threatened him of dire consequences. That is when Pandey approached the cops, they refused to register his complaint. The police claimed that no crime was committed.
