#MeToo: Soni Razdan Opens Up About Her Sexual Harassment Experience

#MeToo movement has brought to opportunities for several Bollywood actresses to open up about their horrifying experience of sexual harassment and inappropriate behaviors at the workplace. Many famous names in this industry have been accused of sexual harassment by co-workers such as Alok Nath, Subhash Ghai, Sajid Khan, Kailash Kher, Vikas Bahl.

Recently, Soni Razdan officially has become a new participant in the #MeToo campaign. The veteran actress admitted that she is also one of the victims of sexual harassment at the workplace.

In an interview with The Quint, the actress said that when she was a young girl, she participated in a film shooting and at that time, someone attempted to rape her. Although the reporter asked her to reveal this person’s name, she refused.

Talking about this horrible experience, Soni Razdan claims that this has never happened to her when she was looking for work but this did only happen on a shooting film. She mentioned that this person attempted to rape her but fortunately he did not make it.

Also, she explained why she did not talk about this before. The reason is that the person who tried to do this terrible thing to her got married and had a kid. And she is afraid that this will leave a negative influence on them. She also said that although she had a horrible experience, she managed to escape so she decided to overlook it. However, she claimed that if she had to face this shocking incident today, she would have spoken about it right away.

When asked about her co-star Alok Nath, who has been accused of sexual misconduct by a number of women, she said that she used to witness his lecherous behavior after he was drunk. She added that she did not really like the way he stared at her.

Soni Razdan gets married to filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt,  and the couple now has two daughters Alia and Shaheen.

At the work front, Soni Razdan recently promotes her film “Yours Truly” at the Busan International Film Festival earlier this month. Sanjoy Nag is the director of this film and it stars Soni Razdan, Aahana Kumra, Pankaj Tripathi and Mahesh Bhatt. This film receives many positive responses from the audience. Based on one of the short stories of Annie Zaidi, the film follows a woman who lives alone and is about to retire from her job.
