Kartik Aaryan was psyched up about being a part of ace storyteller Imtiaz Ali’s film Love Aaj Kal (2020) as he always wanted to work with the filmmaker. Also starring Sara Ali Khan, Aarushi Sharma and Randeep Hooda in important roles, the movie hit the marquee on 14th February 2020 with a lot of expectations.
However, crushing all expectations, Love Aaj Kal turned out to be a dud. Despite being a sequel to the 2009 superhit film of the same name and great pre-release buzz, the romantic movie could not draw audiences to theatres all because of a paper-thin storyline and poor writing.
Though Love Aaj Kal has turned out to be the biggest flop of his career, Kartik Aaryan is not complaining. The actor who has delivered a series of box-office hits in the past said that he had full faith in the vision of his director.
Talking to a publication before the release of the film, Kartik Aaryan said that he went with the director’s gut for Love Aaj Kal and that he would never ask for a script from director Imtiaz Ali. The actor went on to add that he knew his world will be magical and he trusted his vision. For Kartik Aaryan, all that matters while selecting a film is the script. He said that it is always about the script and the story. It is the script that is a deciding factor for a film that he wants to do.
After Love Aaj Kal, Kartik Aaryan will be seen in Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 which is a horror comedy. As the title suggests, it is a sequel to Akshay Kumar’s 2007 film Bhool Bhulaiyaa. Helmed by Anees Bazmee, the movie also stars Kiara Advani in the lead role.
