Kartik Aaryan and Janhvi Kapoor have finished shooting for their upcoming film Dostana 2. The duo wrapped up the second schedule of the much-awaited comic-caper on Wednesday. The film went on the shooting floor last month in Punjab.
Kartik Aaryan took to social media to make the announcement. He wrote that the team of Dostana2 has wrapped the 2nd schedule for 2019. The actor, who is currently riding high on the runaway success of his latest film Patni Patni Aur Woh (2019), also shared pictures along with his tweet.
As the title of the film aptly suggests, Dostana 2 is a sequel to Dharma Productions’ much-loved comic-caper Dostana released in 2008. The original film starred Priyanka Chopra, Abhishek Bachchan and John Abraham in lead roles. Apart from raking in huge money at the box-office, Dostana is credited for bringing the discussion on homosexuality in our drawing rooms. While the first part of the franchise was helmed by Tarun Mansukhani, Dostana 2 is being directed by debutant filmmaker Colin D’Cunha. Karan Johar is producing the film under his banner Dharma Productions.
Dostana 2 brings Kartik Aaryan and Janhvi Kapoor together for the first time. If reports are to be believed, the duo is playing siblings in the hugely anticipated film. Besides them, the movie also stars popular television actor Lakshya in the lead role. It marks his transition from television to Bollywood. Dostana 2 is expected to release in the second half of 2020. The makers are yet to lock the official release date for the film.
In addition to Dostana 2, Dharma Productions will be releasing almost half a dozen films in the year 2020. Some of their forthcoming movies include Bhoot – Part One: The Haunted Ship, Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl, Sooryavanshi, Brahmastra and Shershaah. Karan Johar’s magnum opus Takht may also release towards the end of 2020.
