Reportedly, the twins Roohi and Yash were born through surrogacy at Masrani Hospital in Mumbai in February 2017. His choice of being a single father received positive reactions from the netizens. Karan was among the first celebrities in Bollywood decided to take the route. Nonetheless, the current social media remains lots of hatred, resulting in a negative comment targeting the actor. This woman accused Johar of separating the twins from their mother's love. Unfortunately, she had to receive direct advice from Johar, saying that she should have focused on other essential issues but not his private life.

"Ma’m!! With all due respect! Get a life! There are larger issues the country is combatting at the moment and it can very well do without your narrow mindedness! My babies are being LOVED and that’s all that matters...and FYI they have a mother!! My mother! Get it! ???", frankly replied, Karan.
