"Kalank" Box Office Collection Prediction: Varun Dhawan And Alia Bhatt’s Film Likely To Open At Rs 20 Crore

Touted as a dream project of filmmaker-producer Karan Johar and his father Yash, which was in conception for around 15 years, Kalank is one of the most-awaited movies of 2019. The film boasts a stellar cast including Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan, Sonakshi Sinha, Aditya Roy Kapur, Madhuri Dixit, and Sanjay Dutt and is all set to hit the cinema on 17^th.

Ahead of its release, here are some predictions about its performance at the box office from famous film trade analyst Sumit Kadel.

According to Sumit Kadel, Kalank is considered as "the most ambitious movies" from Dharma Productions, and there are three key factors which help the film manage to work wonder at the box office.

Firstly, with "a highly popular star cast" like Alia Bhatt and Varun Dhawan, the film stands a high chance of scoring big at the domestic box office. Also, the genre is another crucial factor for its successful performance since period drama might be the current flavor of the ticket window. Finally, “the fact that Kalank is one solo release will help it big time.”

However, Sumit also added that its long runtime of 2 hours 48 minutes might create a negative impact on the film. However, if it receives positive reviews, this factor will largely neutralize.

Talking about his prediction on Kalank’s first-day collection, Sumit Kadel said, “I’m expecting the movie to open at Rs 19 crore to Rs 20 crore. By the end of its extended 5-day weekend, I see it standing anywhere between Rs 80 crore and Rs 100 crore.”

Produced by Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment and Fox Star Studios, Kalank marks the 4^th collaboration between Alia Bhatt and Varun Dhawan after Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania, Badrinath Ki Dulhania, and Student Of The Year. Also, the film will see the reunion of Bollywood iconic couples Sanjay Dutt and Madhuri Dixit after a gap of two decades.
