He added that they are not sure who started these rumours. These are absolutely baseless. They did not even approach Salman Khan with a role. They will soon make an announcement regarding the official cast and crew of the much-awaited film.

Buzz has it that Chiranjeevi is playing dual roles in Acharya. The film marks his first collaboration with director Koratala Siva who has established himself as one of the most sought-after filmmakers in the Telugu film industry.

Talking about the storyline of Acharya, the film revolves around a middle-aged Naxalite-turned-social reformer who launches a fight against the Endowments Department over misappropriation and embezzlement of temple funds and donations.

Initially, actress Trisha Krishnam was set to play the female lead in the film. However, she opted out of the project due to come creative difference and went on to star in Mani Ratnam’s hugely anticipated period drama Ponniyin Selvan. After her exit, Kajal Aggarwal came onboard to play the female lead.

We also hear that either Ram Charan or Mahesh Babu will play an extended cameo in the film. Since Ram Charan is currently busy with S. S. Rajamouli’s RRR, the makers are planning to go ahead with Mahesh Babu. An official announcement is awaited though.
