The Indian director-producer Indra Kumar has recently expressed his attitude to the negative comments of Paan Singh Tomar's director Tigmanshu Dhulia on his latest movie, Total Dhamaal.
The Great Grand Masti's director stated that: "That’s his perception. I can’t go and change his views about a film." He especially emphasized that he couldn't control everyone's perception or feeling in his movie, and Total Dhamaal received many positive reactions. “I respect his opinion and judgment. Usko nahin samajh mein aaya toh somewhere it must have hurt his sensibilities,” Indra added.
Reportedly, during the interview with PTI, Tigmanshu shared his feeling on the comedy: "The taste of the general audience, including the middle class and the upper middle class, has deteriorated drastically."
Before mentioning Dhamaal, Tigmansu pointed out the example of Dada Kondke, "There used to be a director called Dada Kondke, who was a super hit filmmaker. All his films used to do really well but they were watched by the frontbenchers, the labor class. No one from the respectable family used to go and watch those films."
Then, the director commented on Dhamaal, saying it's "trash, filth". "Now suddenly you see these Dhamaals and all these films, whose trailers itself have so much trash, filth, earn Rs 200 crore. That means they are being watched by the multiplex audience," he added.
On Tuesday, March 12th, the Indian film critic-journalist Taran Adarsh took to Twitter to publicize Total Dhamaal's revenue with impressive figures. "TotalDhamaal continues to fare best in mass circuits... Inches closer towards Rs 150 cr... [Week 3] Fri 1.70 cr, Sat 2.76 cr, Sun 3.95 cr, Mon 1.40 cr. Total: Rs 142.41 cr. India biz... #Overseas total: $ 6.22 mn [Rs 43.32 cr], wonderful. Best in USA+Canada [crossed $ 2 mn].
Total Dhamaal features Anil Kapoor, Esha Gupta, Ajay Devgn, Madhuri Dixit, Javed Jaffrey, Riteish Deshmukh, Johnny Lever, Sanjai Mishra, Boman Irani, Arshad Warsi, Javed Jaffrey among others. The comedy hit the box office on February 22, 2019.
