“Dostana 2” To Be More Emotional Than “Dostana”, Says Janhvi Kapoor

“Dostana 2” is a sequel to the 2008 hit comic-caper “Dostana”. Besides Janhvi Kapoor, the sequel also stars Kartik Aaryan and Lakshya in lead roles.

Janhvi Kapoor is currently in news for her digital debut with the Netflix omnibus Ghost Stories (2020) wherein she features in the segment directed by Gully Boy (2019) fame Zoya Akhtar. The actress has received widespread praises for her spooky performance in the series. Janhvi Kapoor, who entered Bollywood with Dharma Productions’ Dhadak (2018) opposite Ishaan Khatter, is going to be quite busy in 2020 as she has several interesting projects line-up to hit the marquee throughout year.

Janhvi Kapoor recently wrapped up the second schedule of her much-awaited film Dostana 2, co-starring Kartik Aaryan and debutant Lakshya. As the title suggests itself, the upcoming movie is a sequel to the 2008 hit comic-caper Dostana, featuring Priyanka Chopra, John Abraham, and Abhishek Bachchan in lead characters.

When asked if she is worried about Dostana 2 being compared with the first instalment of the franchise, Janhvi Kapoor said that Dostana has become a cult classic and she hopes that the entire team of Dostana 2 matches to that standard. The actress also added that the story, characters, and sets of the sequel are totally different than the original movie. She also added that Dostana 2 is a little more emotional than the first part.

Apart from Dostana 2, Janhvi Kapoor will also be seen in Maddock Films’ Roohi-Afzana and Dharma Productions’ Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl. Talking about Roohi-Afzana, wherein she is paired opposite Rajkummar Rao, the actress said that it was the most emotionally and physically taxing role that she has had the privilege of doing.

The newcomer revealed that she has also started preparing for her role in the much-awaited period drama Takht. Since she plays a Mughal character in Takht, she has started learning Kathak and Urdu as well to perfect her part in the Karan Johar directorial. Takht is expected to arrive in cinemas in the first half of 2021.
