Bollywood diva Deepika Padukone recently wrapped up her shooting schedule for the film Chhapaak where she portraits the role of an acid attack sufferer Malti.

Inspired by the real life of Laxmi Agarwal, an acid survivor from Delhi, Deepika recently stated that she saw a connection with Laxmi’s "grit and determination."

In an interview, the star said,

Earlier, Chhapaak’s filmmaker Meghan Gulzar sipped some beans about the film. Speaking of how perfect Deepika is to play the female lead, Meghan said she found “an uncanny similarity” between Laxmi and Deepika.

However, the filmmaker also shared that she was like letting her “imaginations go wild.” Because she didn’t think Deepika Padukone could “give this thought a moment.” No prize for guessing, she was stunned when DP said yes to her project.

The film is scheduled to release on 10 January 2020.

Speaking of her professional front, DP recently headed to London to join her husband in his upcoming film ’83. She will be slipping into shoes of the wife of Kapil Dev (played by Ranveer Singh). Stay tuned for more updates from us!
