Decade Review: Check Out The List Of National Award-Winners In The Last 10 Years

While Oscars is the film awards ceremony for the Hollywood world, we have our own ceremony of National Film Awards. The annual celebration of this honor is delivered to every Bollywood star and film that graces their effort throughout a year. The ceremony always takes place in New Delhi in which the President of India will the person who gives the crown to the winner. From 2009 to 2019, take a look back at the list of the National Award-winners of the decade.

2009

There were various hits getting clicked for their excellent term of content and Paa was one of them. The movie bagged the Best Actor award for Amitabh Bachchan in the National Film Award. Meanwhile, Abahoman star Ananya Chatterjee was given the award of Best Actress in the same ceremony.

2010

In the category of Best Actor, Dhanush shared this honor with Salim Kumar for their respective films of Aadukalam (in Tamil) and Adaminte Makan Abu (in Malayalam). At the same time, Saranya Ponvannan and Mitalee Jagtap Varadkar also shared the Best Actress award for their performances in Thenmerkku Paruvakkatru and Baboo Band Baaja respectively.

2011

The 59^th National Award-winners were Girish Kulkarni with the Best Actor award and Vidya Balan with the Best Actress one. Girish showed his stellar acting skill in Marathi movie Deool whereas Vidya won the prize for her role in The Dirty Picture.

2012

Once again, the Best Actor award was shared between Irrfan Khan with his character in Paan Singh Tomar and Vikram Gokhale with his appearance in Anumati (Marathi film). For the Best Actress award, Usha Jadhav conferred it thanks to her performance in Dhag (Marathi film).

2013

Shahid actor Rajkummar Rao and Perariyathavar star Suraj Venjaramoodu together received the Best Actor award at the 61^st ceremony of National Film Awards. On the other hand, Geetanjali Thapa was honored as the Best Actress for her brilliant performance in Liar’s Dice.

2014

The 62^nd National Film Award witnessed Sanchari Vijay’s achievement for his role in Kannada movie Nanu Avanalla Avalu. In the same year, Kangana Ranaut bagged the same award in the female category for her character in the film Queen.

2015

This year marked the consecutive owner of the Best Actress award of Kangana Ranaut with her rom-com Tanu Weds Manu Returns. The ceremony also marked Big B’s comeback to the award of the male category for his acting in Piku.

2016

Akshay Kumar is the Bollywood male star receiving the award of Best Actor after the success of the movie Rustom while the Malayalam film Minnaminungu – the Firefly filled Surabhi Lakshmi’s career that year with the Best Actress award.

2017

As filmmaker Shekhar Kapur joined the judge of the 65^th National Film Award, Riddhi Sen was awarded as Best Actor with his starrer film Nagarkirtan. Meanwhile, former actress Sridevi took home the Best Actress award for the movie Mom.

2018

The Best Actor award was delivered to Ayushmann Khurrana for his talent in Andhadhun and Vicky Kaushal when he was the lead actor of the movie Uri: The Surgical Strike in the National Film Award organized earlier this year. The Telugu movie Mahanati brought to Keerthy Suresh the title of Best Actress for her great performance in the film.

The National Award-winners list of the past ten years is a review of what Bollywood stars gained in their acting careers. Every year, B-town welcomes a lot of starlets to the entertainment world, as a result, the competition for the National award will become fiercer.
