Meghan said she found “an uncanny similarity” between Laxmi and Deepika. However, the filmmaker also shared that she was like letting her “imaginations go wild.”

Chhapaak’s filmmaker Meghan Gulzar once revealed that she always wants Bollywood star Deepika Padukone to essay the lead in her film. Yes, her wish was eventually fulfilled as Deepika was roped into playing the role of a real-life acid attack survivor, Laxmi Aggarwal.

Meghna, in an interview with Pinkvilla, spilled some beans on the idea of this film. She revealed she came up with the idea of making Chhapaak after she completed Talwar in the year 2015, though decided to film Raazi instead.

However, Meghan added she and Atika were still developing the script and kept talking with Laxmi. When Raazi was done and dusted, she thought it’s time for Chhapaak.

Speaking of how perfect Deepika is to play the female lead, Meghan said she found “an uncanny similarity” between Laxmi and Deepika. However, the filmmaker also shared that she was like letting her “imaginations go wild.” Because she didn’t think Deepika Padukone could “give this thought a moment.” No prize for guessing, she was stunned when DP said yes to her project.

For the uninitiated, the film crew wrapped up the shoot recently. Meghna also took to social media to unveil some rare photos of the Jodi Deepika and Vikrant Massey. The actress can be seen sporting salwar suit and putting Mehendi on hands. Vikrant, meanwhile, flashed a smile with the camera together with his co-star and Meghan.
