“Bala” stars Ayushmann Khurrana in the role of a young man who starts experiencing heavy hair fall at the age of 25. Bhumi Pednekar and Yami Gautam also play important characters in the film.

Bala, featuring Ayushmann Khurrana, Bhumi Pednekar and Yami Gautam in lead roles, has been one of the most-talked-about films of the year. After a long wait by the audience, the movie finally hit theatres on 8th November and registered excellent reviews. It opened its account with an impressive figure of Rs. 10.15 crores at the cash counter.

Bala was expected to put up a great show on Saturday, the second day of its theatrical release. However, its collection hit a roadblock when, anticipating unrest after the Ayodhya verdict pronounced by the honourable Supreme Court of India, theatres in some cities of Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh remained shut for the entire day.

Distributor Kishan Damani from Bihar comments, “The collections of Bala are better and has opened stronger than Ayushmann Khurrana’s previous release Dream Girl (2019) with better reviews all across. Yes, collections were hit in Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh where theatres were closed due to government orders.”

Another prominent exhibitor-distributor from Mumbai, who does not want to be named, informs that Bala was initially affected by the release of a similar film a week earlier.  “After Ujda Chaman last week, audiences felt it was too much to see another film about premature balding. But they went nevertheless only because of Ayushmann Khurrana who has become synonymous with quality products,” he says.

Bala has raked in a whopping amount of Rs. 43.95 crores over the weekend. Made on a moderate budget of just Rs. 25 crores, the film released in 3500 screens worldwide and witnessed good response all around. With Bala, Ayushmann Khurrana has delivered his eighth consecutive hit at the box-office. The rising star will next be seen in yet another quirky comedy titled Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan, which is a sequel to his 2017 hit film Shubh Mangal Saavdhan.
