Ayushmann Khurrana On Doing A Mainstream Film Based On Gay Rights

Known for playing a diverse range of characters in his 7-year-long career, Ayushmann Khurrana is gearing up to play a homosexual man in Anand L Rai’s next production venture “Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan”.

Ayushmann Khurrana is perhaps the only actor from the current crop whose name crops up first in your mind whenever somebody talks about actors who do not fear taking up out-of-the-box roles. Khurrana made his acting debut with ace filmmaker Shoojit Sircar’s Vicky Donor (2012) wherein he played a young, happy-go-lucky guy who donates his sperms to help childless couples enjoy the sheer bliss of parenthood.

After playing a sperm donor in Vicky Donor to essaying the character of a young man suffering from erectile dysfunction in Shubh Mangal Saavdhan (2017), Ayushmann Khurrana has proved his mettle as an actor. Now, he is gearing up to take on yet another challenging character in filmmaker Anand L Rai’s next production venture Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan.

The film is a sequel to Shubh Mangal Saavdhan and features him in the role of a homosexual man.

The actor, who is currently basking in the huge success of his latest film Article 15 (2019), says that doing a film like Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan is important as there has to be a film based on gay rights in the mainstream space as that way you are not preaching the converted.

Besides playing a gay man in Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan, Ayushmann Khurrana is also playing a bald man in his next titled Bala. The film deals with the issue of premature baldness in men.
