Arshad Warsi Joins Bhumi Pednekar On The Cast Of “Durgavati”

Arshad Warsi was most recently seen in comic-caper “Pagalpanti”. The talented actor has now joined the cast of upcoming film “Durgavati” wherein he will play the bad guy.

Arshad Warsi, who was most recently seen in filmmaker Anees Bazmee’s comic-caper Pagalpanti (2019), has bagged a new project. According to the latest media reports, the talented actor has joined the cast of upcoming Hindi film Durgavati which was announced a couple of months ago.

Durgavati stars Bhumi Pednekar in the lead role. The scary thriller hit the shooting floor in late January and since then several new actors have joined its star cast. A couple of days ago, it was revealed that talented actress Mahie Gill came onboard to play an important role in the flick. Now, the makers have signed Arshad Warsi and Karan Kapadia as well. Karan Kapadia is the cousin of actor and author Twinkle Khanna who made his acting debut with Blank (2019).

Durgavati is the official remake of superhit Telugu film Bhaagamathie (2018) which featured award-winning South Indian actress Anushka Shetty in the lead role. However, the makers of the Hindi film have not made a formal announcement about the same. The movie is being directed by G Ashok who also helmed Bhaagamathie.

Arshad Warsi has been signed on to essay a negative character in the movie, while Karan Kapadia has bagged a positive character. If the original movie is anything to go by, Arshad Warsi will be stepping into the shoes of Telugu actor Jayaram who played the role of a shrewd politician who creates havoc in the life of the protagonist. Karan Kapadia, on the other hand, plays the protagonist’s fiancée, a character that Unni Mukundan played in the original.

Durgavati is being jointly produced by Bhushan Kumar and Vikram Malhotra of T-Series Films and Abundantia Entertainment respectively. Superstar Akshay Kumar is the presenter of the much-awaited horror thriller. The film is expected to hit theatres in the second half of the year.
