Amitabh Bachchan Wins The Reputable Dadasaheb Phalke Award, B-Town Is Showering Him With Praises

Actor Amitabh Bachchan has been selected for Dadasaheb Phalke Award and a lot of celebs are sending the "bonafide rock star" their congratulations.

Veteran actor of Bollywood Amitabh Bachchan will receive the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award, as tweeted by Prakash Javadekar. It is the highest cinema award in India.

Javadekar took to Twitter, saying,

The first to bag the award was actor Devika Rani. She was honoured at the 17th National Film Awards.

49 awards have been given out until 2017. Among the awardees, there are only two posthumous recipients including Prithviraj Kapoor (1971) along with Vinod Khanna (2017).

There are other well-known winners such as Manna Dey who was awarded in 2007, Shashi Kapoor who was the winner in 2014…

Anil Kapoor and director Karan Johar were most likely the first people to send congratulatory wishes to Amitabh on Twitter. They call his win a well-deserved one and no one can disagree with that.

Amitabh Bachchan is a renowned actor who is tagged with many critically claimed and globally successful movies. Not only in India but also across Hollywood that he attains a huge reputation.

He asserted himself within the B-town with Hindi movies like Zandeer, Sholay and Deewaar. More lately, his acting was appreciated in films such as Piku, Pink and Paa.

The actor stepped in Hollywood as he acted in Leonardo DiCaprio starrer The Great Gatsby. In terms of TV, he is known as the host of famous game show Kaun Banega Crorepati.

In 1984, he was honoured with Padma Shri by India’s Government. He also achieved the Padma Bhushan and Padma Vibhushan in 2001 and 2015 respectively for his art contributions.

Moreover, in 2007, the Government of France also honoured Bachchan with Knight of the Legion of Honour, the highest civilian honour of France.
