Bollywood veteran actor Amitabh Bachchan recently took to his blog to reveal the inside stories about his 1978 superhit Don as the movie clocks 41 years.
According to the actor, the makers of the film did not approve this title at first since they felt it wasn't suitable for the title of one Hindi movie.
He added that the movie’s title sounds “much like the brand of undergarment in a popular market.” However, thanks to the popularity of Godfather series, this word ‘Don’ "received enough publicity," said Amitabh.
Besides, Amitabh also mentioned the film’s producer Nariman Irani, who lost his life to save a kid from an outdoor collapsing set.
Talking about Don, the movie revolves around Vijay, a Bombay slum-dweller who looks like the powerful criminal Don. Don later dies in a police chase, and DSP D'Silva is the only one who knows about his death. To track down the root of the criminal organization, D'Silva trains Vijay to become Don.
The film was helmed by Chandra Barot, produced by Nariman Irani, and was written by Salim-Javed. It also stars Zeenat Aman, Iftekhar, Pran, Om Shivpuri, Helen, Pinchoo Kapoor, and Satyen Kappu.
Meanwhile, on the professional front, Amitabh Bachchan, who was last seen in Badla, is now preparing for his next release titled Brahmastra with Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Mouni Roy, and Akkineni Nagarjuna. Directed by Ayan Mukerji and the film is set to hit the cinema around Christmas 2019.
