Alia Bhatt, it seems, will not heave a sigh of relief until she does at least one film with one of her favourite filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali. As we all know that the duo was set to collaborate on a love story titled Inshallah. However, due to the last-minute exit of superstar Salman Khan, who was paired opposite Alia Bhatt, the much-talked about project had to be scrapped.
Since Salman Khan exited from Inshallah, there has been much speculation over the next project of Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Alia Bhatt. While some media outlets have been reporting that Bhansali will continue with Inshallah with a new male lead and some changes in the script, others report that the duo has locked a new project to work together on.
If fresh reports doing the rounds are to be believed, Alia Bhatt is likely to be the female lead in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s next film, tentatively titled Gangubai. It will be based on female gangster, Gangubai Kothewali. This is the same project for which Priyanka Chopra’s name was also doing the rounds a couple of months ago. However, due to her prior commitments and busy schedule, the global star could not do the film.
Reportedly, Bhansali has already registered the titled Gangubai, so it should not come as a surprise if he goes on to announce the project in coming few days. Alia Bhatt is, meanwhile, busy preparing for her much-awaited film Takht, which reunites her with filmmaker Karan Johar after Student of the Year (2012).
Besides her, the war period drama also features Kareena Kapoor Khan, Ranveer Singh, Bhumi Pednekar, Vicky Kaushal, Anil Kapoor, and Janhvi Kapoor on its ensemble cast.
