Alia Bhatt Is Not The Original Choice To Play Roop in "Kalank", Deepika Padukone Is The First One?

The production house of Kalank had approached Deepika Padukone to play Roop instead of Alia Bhatt, though the diva turned it down.

The much-awaited film Kalank featuring Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan, Aditya Roy Kapur, Sonakshi Sinha, Madhuri Dixit, Kunal Kemmu and Sanjay Dutt has finally hit the screens and has managed to become a box office hit. The film garnered a mixed review from the audiences and the critics. One of the highlights was the performance of female lead Alia Bhatt, but little do we know that Alia was not the initial choice to play the role of Roop in the film.

According to Pinkvilla, the production house of Kalank had approached Deepika Padukone to play Roop instead of Alia Bhatt, though the diva turned it down. While the reason behind the turning down is still unknown, if it was true, it would mark the first collaboration between Deepika and Varun Dhawan.

Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone is hands down one of the most versatile stars of the movie industry. The 33-year-old actor has proved her acting mettle in many blockbusters including Padmavaat, Ram Leela, Bajirao Mastani and many more. The star then got hitched to the blue-eyed boy of B-town Ranveer Singh in 2018, and their wedding turned out to be a high-profile one.

After an almost one-year break, Deepika is now occupied with shooting for her next film Chhapaak, starring opposite Vikrant Massey. The film will be also seen her in a new position as she steps into the shoes of a director for the first time.

Speaking of the professional life of Alia Bhatt, other than Kalank, the actress has also several films lined up in her kitty. One of them is the much-anticipated film Brahmastra where she will be sharing the screen space with her beau Ranbir Kapoor.
