Alia Bhatt Bowled Over By Magnificent Sets Of “Gangubai Kathiawadi”

Alia Bhatt is set to fulfil one of her most cherished dreams soon, the dream of working with celebrated filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali in a film. The duo was first set to collaborate on Inshallah which had Salman Khan as the lead hero. But when Khan decided to walk out of the project at the last moment, Bhansali shelved Inshallah and instead offered a new film called Gangubai Kathiawadi to Alia Bhatt.

Recently, Alia Bhatt happened to pass by the sets of Gangubai Kathiawadi, which have been erected in Film City, Mumbai. The actress was, reportedly, stunned when she entered the sets of and saw them for the first time.

“Alia was passing by the set at Film City and was awestruck by the magnitude of the set. The movie set for Gangubai is not just larger than life but has a lot of intricate details despite the Herculean size. There is a lot of fine detailing that has gone into the making of the set,” inform sources.

According to reports, the set of Gangubai Kathiawadi is bigger than the ones that Sanjay Leela Bhansali had created for his previous biggies Goliyon Ki Raasleela: Ram Leela (2013) and Bajirao Mastani (2015). A huge amount of money has been pumped into making the sets for the upcoming film. We also hear that tight security is being maintained around the set to ensure that no one gets a sneak peek before the release of the film in 2020.

Gangubai Kathiawadi is a biopic based on the life of Gangubai Kothewali, also known as the madam of Kamathipura, a red-light district in Mumbai, for her connections with the underworld. She was forced into prostitution by her boyfriend at a very young age and hence, had a soft corner for the girls who met the same fate.
