Akshay Kumar is undoubtedly one of the most successful actors that Bollywood has ever produced. He is also one of the highest-paid superstars in the country. But does he take home a fat paycheque of Rs. 120 crore for a film? It is an insane number and something that no actor in Indian cinema has ever been paid.
Rumours were rife lately that for his guest appearance in filmmaker Aanand L Rai’s next directorial outing Atrangi Re, Akshay Kumar was charging a humongous amount of Rs. 120 crore. The said amount is more than the total budget of several biggies that the superstar has headlined over the years.
A leading publication reports that not only did the amount turn out to be fabricated, it has been now revealed that Akshay Kumar only has a cameo in the much-talked-about movie. A source in the know informs the publication, “The film revolves around the characters played by Dhanush and Sara Ali Khan. Akshay has a small but very important role. It is actually a guest appearance which he is probably not charging any money for.”
Well, this will not be the first time when Akshay Kumar has not taken remuneration for his cameo in a movie. In 2016, he did a cameo as a gay hitman in director Rohit Dhawan’s Dishoom for which he did not take any money. Dhawan began his career with Desi Boyz (2011) which starred Kumar alongside John Abraham, Deepika Padukone and Chitrangada Singh.
Meanwhile, Akshay Kumar is gearing up for the release of his hugely anticipated film Sooryavanshi. Also starring Katrina Kaif in the lead role, the cop-drama has been directed by hit filmmaker Rohit Shetty. The movie is scheduled for its theatrical bow on 27th March 2020. Sooryavanshi will be followed by horror comedy Laxmmi Bomb on 22nd May 2020.
