Confirming the development, film producer SR Prabhu wrote on Twitter that they are thrilled to announce that Ajay Devgn will be playing the lead in Reliance Entertainment Dream Warrior Pictures and Ajay Devgn Ffilms’ Hindi remake of Kaithi. The film will release on February 12, 2021.

Reliance Entertainment had confirmed last year that they have acquired the remake rights of the Tamil blockbuster. However, the makers did not reveal the name of the lead actor for the Hindi remake. Several media outlets reported that Salman Khan or Hrithik Roshan were being considered to play the lead role which Karthi played in the original movie. But now, the tweet from Ajay Devgn has confirmed that he is stepping into the shoes of Karthi. While the Tamil film was directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, the makers are yet to announce the name of the director who will call the shots for the Hindi remake.

Talking about Devgn’s upcoming projects, the superstar will be next seen in Bhuj: The Pride of India. It will be followed up by Amit Sharma’s sports drama Maidaan, which is based on the life of legendary football coach Syed Abdul Rahim. In the last quarter of 2020, he is expected to start shooting for filmmaker Neeraj Pandey’s much-awaited film Chanakya. The actor also appears in a special cameo in ace filmmaker SS Rajamouli’s next magnum-opus RRR.
