Simmba is forecasted to soon beat the Indian box-office gross of Chennai Express (Rs 227 crore) and Golmaal Again (Rs 205 crore) within this week.

Ranveer Singh and Sara Ali Khan

After twelve days of its premiere, Simmba starring Ranveer Singh has grossed Rs 200 crore at Indian box office. It is the last Bollywood blockbuster in 2018 and is released merely four days away from New Year 2019.

In addition to the actor Ranveer Singh’s presence, Simmba stars the actress Sara Ali Khan and the actors Sonu Sood, Ashutosh Rana. After hitting the global cinemas only five days, the film proves the director Rohit Shetty’s outstanding talent as it becomes his 8th successive movie passing Rs 100 crore milestone. Thus, Simmba is anticipated being Rohit’s third flick reaching the desirable Rs 200 crore.

Recently, Boxofficeindia.com reported that Simmba earned Rs 5.50 crore last Tuesday, increasing its total receipts to Rs 201 crore. Thus far, it is Rohit Shetty’s third successful project in the domestic market after 2013 Chennai Express and 2017 Golmaal Again. Also, Simmba is forecasted to soon beat the Indian box-office gross of Chennai Express (Rs 227 crore) and Golmaal Again (Rs 205 crore) within this week.

The movie critic Taran Adarsh has continuously updated Simmba’s box office sales via his Twitter.

Ranveer’s movie had an opening similar to the film Zero launched a week earlier as collecting Rs 20 crore at its premiere.

In a recent interview with Filmfare, Simmba’s male lead, Ranveer reveals his great efforts as collaborating with the director Rohit Shetty on Simmba. The actor confides:

The movie has also beaten the receipts of Bajirao Mastani, Ranveer’s preceding film released at the end of 2015. Additionally, it is expected to cross Padmaavat’s Rs 302 crore making at the domestic box-office in early 2018.

Evaluating Simmba’s box-office future whether it can defeat Chennai Express’s success or not, the movie exhibitor Akshaye Rathi affirms that Simmba's ability to beat Chennai Express is entirely possible. “Simmba looks like a sure blockbuster,” shares he. He highly appreciates Simmba’s film crew “from the set up” to “the cast, the director and the music.

Nonetheless, in Akshaye’s viewpoint, Simmba’s victory is not the triumph of the principal actors, but the success of the director Rohit Shetty and the storyteller. However, he also acknowledged Ranveer’s “potential.”  He adds.
