2019 is already close and 2020 opens with a host of hotly anticipated films lined up, mostly the arrivals of the sequels. The remakes, sequels, and reboots have always been dominating the film industry for years. However, it seems like this trend still continues, be it Alia Bhatt-Aditya Roy Kapur’s Sadak 2, Kartik Aaryan-Janhvi Kapoor’s Dostana 2 or Ayushmann Khurrana’s Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan, 2020 is predicted to be a year of blockbuster film sequels.

Today, we bring you a rundown of most awaited films worth looking forward to!

Sadak 2

Following the success of 1991 super hit Sadak which starred Pooja Bhatt and Sanjay Dutt in the lead roles, the filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt took the plunge to do the second installment of the film. Other than the original cast Sanjay and Pooja, its sequel will feature a new Jodi, Aditya Roy Kapur and Alia Bhatt.

Dostana 2

Starring John Abraham, Priyanka Chopra, and Abhishek Bachchan, Dostana is known for being one of the most successful films of Bollywood. For years, fans are waiting for the sequel of this film and now their wish is fulfilled as the makers are all set to tell the next chapter of the film. This sequel is helmed by Collin D’Cunha and Karan Johar turns producer.

Starring Kartik Aaryan, Janhvi Kapoor and Lakshya Lalwani, the film already went on the floor recently.

Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2

In 2007, the horror-comedy thriller Bhool Bhulaiyaa turned out to be one of the biggest hits of the year. Starring Akshay Kumar, Shiney Ahuja, and Vidya Balan, the film totally won the hearts of the audiences with an interesting narrative and top-notch performance.

Now the makers will come up with a much-awaited sequel and it’s being helmed by Anees Bazmee. Kartik Aaryan will step into Akshay Kumar’s shoes in the film. However, the makers revealed that it won’t be the continuation of the first installment and will have a different plotline.

Angrezi Medium

The list could not be complete without mentioning the Angrezi Medium. Ever since the news was out on the second installment of Hindi Medium, the film has created quite a buzz among the public. Besides the original cast including Irrfan Khan, the film will also feature Bollywood’ much-loved diva Kareena Kapoor in the important role. Directed by Homi Adjani and shot in London and Rajasthan, the film will focus on foreign education.

Street Dance 3D

The overwhelming success of two previous dance-based films of hit franchise ABCD, the makers are all set to release the third installment titled Street Dancer 3D. Starring Shraddha Kapoor, Varun Dhawan, the film has been grabbing eyeballs since the trailer released.

Aaj Kal

Deepika Padukone and Saif Ali Khan-starrer Love Aaj Kal was loved by the audiences from all quarters and the movie is soon to have a sequel. The next part will star Sara Ali Khan and Kartik Aaryan who are reportedly seeing each other. The film marks their first on-screen collaboration. Kartik Aaryan seems to have a busy year ahead as he has three back-to-back sequels lined up.

Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan

After the victory of Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan, the filmmaker will bring out its second installment. Starring award-winning actor Ayushmann Khurrana, the sequel will bring awareness for the audiences about homosexuality.

Baaghi 3

Tiger Shroff-starrer Baaghi series is one of the most successful franchises in Bollywood. After treating the viewers with the impeccable performances in Baaghi and Baaghi 2, the third installment is all set to greet the audiences again. The film will feature Tiger Shroff and Shraddha Kapoor in the title roles.
