While interfaith marriage has still been considered as a taboo in many parts of our country and often comes along with a storm of controversy, these Bollywood couples broke the stereotype to be together.
Shakeel Ladak and Amrita Arora
Amrita Arora was born in a Punjabi catholic family while her hubby Shakeel Ladak is from a Muslim background. The couple exchanged the vows in two separate wedding ceremonies in 2009. Rumors had it that they made a sudden wedding announcement because Amrita got pregnant with Shakeel’s child before marriage.
Shirish Kunder and Farah Khan
Farah Khan and Shirish Kunder have been an inspiration for many when it comes to interfaith marriage. The Hindu-Muslim couple fell in love on the sets of Main Hoon Na in which Farah was the director and Shirish was the editor. In spite of facing the hurdles religious difference and age gap, the lovebird still tied the knot on 9th December 2004 and is enjoying their marital bliss with their three children.
Ritesh Deshmukh and Genelia D’souza
Genelia and Ritesh set another beautiful example of interfaith marriage. As Genelia is a Mangalorean Catholic and Ritesh is a Maharashtrian, they performed the wedding rituals in both religions’ style. The couple happily welcomed their first child in 2012.

Bollywood actor Arjun Rampal, who is a Hindu Sikh, walked down the aisle with the love of his life model Mehr Jesia, who comes from a Parsi family in 1998. The two are proud parents to two daughters, Myra and Mahikaa. Sadly, they went their separate ways in 2015.
