Actress Meera Deosthale, who became a household name after playing the character of grown-up Chakor on Colors’ popular show “Udaan”, has been roped in to play the female lead in an upcoming social drama show titled “Vidya”.

Meera Deosthale is one of the most popular faces on Indian television. She made her acting debut with Colors’ hit show, Sasural Simar Ka as Priya. After Sasural Simar Ka, the actress went on to feature in Dilli Wali Thakur Gurls. But it was Colors’ Udaan which shot her to fame and made a household name across the country.

Meera Deosthale played the role of grown-up Chakor on the show from 2016 to 2019. She received widespread appreciation for her performance and her fans still know her by her screen name Chakor.

Since Meera Deosthale quit Udaan in February, as she did not want to play mother to an 18-year-old, fans have been missing her on the small screen. However, it looks like her fans will not have to miss her more because the talented actress is gearing up to return to television with a new show. Yes, you heard that right! According to reports, Meera Deosthale has been signed on to play the female lead in an upcoming show.

Titled Vidya, the show will revolve around the importance of education in our lives. Interestingly, Vidya will be the second social drama show for Meera Deosthale as she fought against the evil practice of bonded labour in her previous show, Udaan. Udaan grabbed a lot of eyeballs just because of its subject and the way it was treated. We hope Vidya also turns out to be a huge hit for the actress.

Mahesh Pandey is the producer of the show. The team is looking at beginning production on 10th June. If all goes well, Vidya will premiere on television in the month of August.
