Hotstar Rebrands Ahead Of Disney+Launch In India, More Shows And Movies Available

A few weeks before the start of the Indian Premier League, Hotstar rebrands as Disney+ Hotstar. Here are new movies and shows on the steaming platform you need to know.

Hotstar, one of the Indian biggest streaming services owned by Star India, has been rebranded to Disney+ Hotstar ahead of the launch of Disney+. Earlier, Disney confirmed that their new streaming platform will be available in India and it was all set to be launched on 29 March, the same day with the start of the Indian Premier League (IPL).

It can be seen that the yellow and black logo of Hotstar has been replaced by a white and blue one. The logo of both Hotstar VIP and Hotstar Premium have been changed as the star and the crown icon were removed and there were only letter ‘V’ and ‘P’ to signify the two categories. The new branding was launched on Android early this week before the rollout on iOS a few days later.

Apart from the new logo, Disney+ Hotstar also introduces more Hollywood movies including Captain America: Civil War (the 2016 blockbuster produced by Marvel Studio), Doctor Strange series, Atlantis: The Lost Empire and animations like A Bug's Life, Cars 3. In addition to that, there are also many new animation series for such as from Gravity Falls (an animated mystery series), Disney The Lion Guard (based on the classic The Lion King), Timon & Pumbaa, Mickey Mouse (Shorts), Tangled: The Series and Jungle Junction.

While VIP users can get access to shows and movies in Hindi, Telugu, and Tamil, only Premium accounts can watch the content in English.

Marvel’s 616  - the documentary series which unveils the connection between the real world and Marvel universe
Be Our Chef - a cooking competition show between families
Rogue Trip - the travel and adventure show which explores unpopular destinations
