April is certainly shaping up to be a great month for the film industry with big events and blockbusters hitting the scene left and right. However, this month has a lot more to offer than just mainstream media. Streaming services like Netflix, Amazon Prime, TVF and Hotstar Premium are offering their newest line-ups from Game of Thrones to Unicorn Store.
Today we bring you 9 much-awaited films that you shouldn't miss this April.
1. Game of Thrones, Hotstar Premium
The anticipation for the final season of Game of Thrones is overwhelming. One of HBO's greatest hits to ever grace television, this show needs no introduction. For those who prefer to watch it on the go, Hotstar Premium have you covered. The platform has announced that they will be streaming at the same time the first episode is aired in the US. Clear your calendar for the morning of Monday, April 15.
2. Selection Day: Part 2, Netflix
A true underdog story, Selection Day came to Netflix unexpectedly and it comes as a surprise for many people. This mini-series is about the sport Cricket and two boys' journey to get the big league. If good performances and a solid storyline your cup of tea, give the show a chance. Selection Day: Part 2 is set to release on April 22nd on Netflix.
3. Chilling Adventures of Sabrina: Part 2, Netflix
Sabrina the Teenage Witch was a 1996 classic TV series. Chilling Adventures of Sabrina was Netflix's attempt at bringing back the magic of the good old days, with a modern twist. This remake has quickly garnered a strong fan-base, who are desperately craving for more. Well, they didn't have to wait much longer because the show came out April 5th.
4. You vs Wild, Netflix
Bandersnatch was an immediate winner of an experiment. It was the first big scale interactive TV show, sets in an established, beloved world. On April, Netflix is having another go at this formula with You vs Wild with Bear Grylls. The basic premise is that you can make Grylls's decision for him, and watch how it would play out. This choose-your-own-adventure show is dropping April 10th.
5. Unicorn Store, Netflix
You've seen Brie Larson and Samuel Jackson in Captain Marvel, get ready to see them again on Netflix. Unicorn Store hasn't received any stellar reviews, but it's a fun ride nonetheless. This is Larson's first bid as a director, and if her directing is as good as her acting, you wouldn't want to miss it on April 5th.
6. Kevin Hart: irresponsible, Netflix
Kevin Hart is back on Netflix with another standup special. In Irresponsible, Hart shares to the audience the stories inspired by his own mistakes, with the usual Kevin-Hart-charm. The special is already streaming on Netflix.
7. Barry, Hotstar Premium
Comedian and actor Bill Hader continue as Barry in this American dark comedy television series. The first season was filled with humor, and after its spectacular ending, expect no less for season 2.
8. The Tick, Amazon Prime
Two years ago, the first season of quirky and weird superhero series The Tick was launched. This month, the duo is back with British comedian Peter Serafinowicz as the Tick and his sidekick Arthur, played by the equally hilarious Griffin Newman.
9. Tripling Season 2, TVF
After the heart-pumping Game of Thrones, you might want to slow down a bit with the second season of Tripling. A light-hearted show about 3 siblings on their road trip, the show's a delight, whilst still, maintain a lot of depth. The first season was highly praised, and the long-awaited second season won't let you down either.
