To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before (TATBILB) was said to be the best rom-com of 2018, and no, people did not even overreact. The internet has been falling in head over heels for the story since it premiered, saying it could revive cold hearts and made us want to believe in love. Honestly, this movie feels closer to home than any of the classics ever did.
Netflix released TATBILB on August 17 last year, and people cannot get enough of it. Good news: It is going to have a sequel! Are you ready to fall in love with our cutest couple Lara Jean Covey and Peter Kavinsky once again? Let's scroll down to find out 5 things that you should know about TATBILB 2!
1. The Release Date
Netflix is going to give TATBILB fans a best Christmas gift ever this year! The sequel is announced to be released in December via a cute video on their official Instagram.
Moreover, it seems like TATBILB is already being filmed at the moment. On March 18, Noah Centineo wrote "TATB2 here we come." on his Twitter and Lana Condor replied with excitement: "I can’t wait to see ya." It is safe to say that the sequel is officially happening.
2. The Other Books From The Series
Jenny Han wrote two follow-up books after TATBILB: P.S. I Still Love You and Always and Forever, Lara Jean. In case you cannot wait until December for the sequel, you can read those two books to find out what happens to Lara's other love letters.
3. The Return Of Our Beloved Characters
TATBILB can never be the same without Lara Jean and Peter Kavinsky. It is certain that they are returning to the sequel, but how about our other favourite characters? According to Netflix, all of Lara's family members will be back with us.
However, there is only one change: The sequel will have a new director! Susan Johnson is the original director, but now she is replaced by Michael Fimognari because of her busy schedule. But don't worry, Susan will still remain as the executive producer of TATBILB!
4. The Guy From Model UN
In the end credits of TATBILB, there is a scene that John Ambrose comes to find Lara after receiving her love letter. He is from model UN, and his appearance is the reason why fans are craving for a sequel from Netflix. According to author Jenny Han, she wrote a second book for John's story just because he is her favourite character.
In the first movie, Jordan Burtchett plays as John Ambrose. However, there is a major change in the sequel as Jordan Fisher is reported to take this role. Now it is difficult to calm down because Fisher is too adorable to handle!
4. The BFF Of Peter Kavinsky
TATBILB producers obviously know what their fans want, and they will spoil them as much as possible this time. Besides the cute Jordan Fisher, the charming Ross Butler will also join the cast as Peter's best friend, Trevor Pike. You might have already known Ross for his role in other famous Netflix series such as Riverdale and 13 Reasons Why. The news of his casting was accompanied by the photo below with Noah.
Yes, Ross is Noah's real-life pal, and this is a real plus point. In an interview with EW, producer Matt Kaplan said that they were thrilled to announce that Ross had joined the cast of TATBILB. "His real-life friendship with Noah brings natural chemistry and great rapport to the set, and we can't wait for fans to see this friendship play out onscreen," he said.
5. The Trouble In Paradise
Now that John Ambrose makes his appearance, Lara and Pete's relationship is going to be in trouble. Director Susan Johnson explained that as people are really into our cute couple, it would be hard to see Lara and Peter go through struggles. However, it is something relatable because every relationship in our life is not perfect.
