When the boycott Chinese products campaign is in full swing in India, most of made-in-China apps, especially TikTok have been removed from Indian people’s smartphones. Meanwhile, it’s also the perfect time for other India apps to fill in the vacancy. Recently, an Indian developer launched a video sharing application called Chingari app which is said to be the rival of Tiktok.
It can be seen that TikTok is soaring into one of the most popular app in the world in general and in India in particular. In fact, the made-in-China app owned by ByteDance, a Beijing-based technology company racked in more than 2 Billions of download and India is one of the biggest contributors with 611 millions downloads to date.
However, the number of Tiktok users decreased by 50% after the India-China clash and the Boycott Chinese products broke out. The campaign created a one-in-a-timeline opportunity for other domestic apps making their way into Indian’s smartphone.
According to the chief of product Sumit Ghost, their app Chingari crossed more tha 2.5 million downloads up to the moment. “We are receiving an overwhelming response from Indian users and as per recent stats, the app has more than 25 lakh plus downloads” - Sumit Ghosh. According to him, all of the developers who created the app are Indian who come from different parts of the countries like Odisha and Karnataka.
