Yash's KGF Breaks Records With Rs 18 Crore On Opening Day

Yash and Srinidhi Shetty’s movie KGF recorded an impressive opening and collected 12.5 crores in Kannada version.

The Kannada-language movie KGF has established an impressive record at the Karnataka box office on its opening day. Specifically, KGF collected Rs 12.5 crore in the Kannada version only, out of Rs 18 crore of the total revenue. Besides Kannada, this movie is released
in many other languages including Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, and Malayalam.
Although being one of the most successful movies in Kannada theatre, KGF only earned Rs 2.10 crore in the Hindi version. According to Boxofficeindia.com, although KGF is a local movie, its collections are twice the Tamil movie 2.0's premiere receipts.
KGF’s box office revenue is also confirmed by a trade analyst Taran Adarsh via his Twitter,
Meanwhile, another specialist on the same field, Ramesh Bala, also tweeted KGF’s first day collections,
KGF is written and produced by director Prashanth Neel, with Srinidhi Shetty and Yash in the main cast. Setting in the 1970s and early 1980s, KGF is filmed mainly in the backdrop of Kolar Gold Fields. It’s the first part of a two-part series. Besides Yash and Srinidhi, Anant Nag and Achyuth Kumar also appeared in the movie.
Interestingly, Shah Rukh Khan's Zero, in which SRK playing a dwarf, Anushka Sharma and Katrina Kaif being the lead female roles, was released the same time with KGF. Under the direction of Aanand L Rai, Zero met with mixed reactions from the public and the critics. Nevertheless, its collections on an opening day reached 20 crores.
Talking about the box-office clash between KGF and Zero released on the same day, Akshaye Rathi, a film expert, shared that Zero and KGF were released on a working Friday and KGF would take a large number of theatres and screens.
