Sonu Sood is a popular name in the Hindi film industry, but not many people know that the hunky star started his acting career in 1999 with a Kollywood film, titled Kallazhagar. After making his acting debut with Kallazhagar, Sonu Sood featured in numerous films in supporting roles in Bollywood and Tollywood. But it was the Nagarjuna starrer Super (2005) which changed the actor’s life completely and established him as a prominent name in showbiz.
Sood followed up Super with a series of blockbusters like Arundhati (2009), Kandireega (2011) and Dookudu (2011), to name a few. The box-office success of these films helped the actor gain his footing as one of the most-sought-after antagonists in South cinema. Post the humongous success of Salman Khan’s Dabangg (2010), Sonu Sood gradually shifted his base to Bollywood, curtailing his presence in South Indian film.
However, the talented actor has once again started strengthening his roots in South cinema. After making his comeback to Telugu movies with Kajal Aggarwal’s Sita (2019), Sonu Sood has now joined the star cast of Chiranjeevi's much-awaited 152nd, which will be directed by filmmaker Koratala Siva.
Confirming the same, the actor tells a publication that it makes him very proud to be associated with the project and sharing the screen space with Chiranjeevi. The South Indian film industry has been very embracing of him and he hopes with this film he is able to give them back the same amount of love through his work.
Besides Chiranjeevi’s film, Sonu Sood will also be seen in Vijay Antony’s Tamil movie Thamilarasan and Aditya Chopra’s historical drama Prithviraj. To be helmed by Chandraprakash Dwivedi, Prithviraj is a big-ticket film featuring Akshay Kumar in the titular role. It marks the silver screen debut of former Miss World Manushi Chhillar.
